Dramatherapists work in schools, prisons, day centres, residential homes and in the NHS. Clients vary in age from young children to older adults.
Many conditions, illnesses and problems can be addressed through Dramatherapy including eating disorders, trauma, addiction, mental health conditions, learning disabilities, emotional, behavioural and social disorders, dementia, and autism spectrum disorders.
Dramatherapy is sometimes described as a non verbal approach because it is not purely a verbal approach. This allows clients to work in a different way and to access therapy alongside verbal therapy or as an alternative.
Dramatherapy sessions are adapted to the individual group or client. Groups are roughly an hour in duration and group size is roughly 6-8 people.
